I recently finished reading The 13th Apostle and wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed it! A few weekends ago, Michael and I met in Columbus to visit with Kristine and Richard and I was able to finish the book on my flights. While it is a great book for the age group you are targeting, it contained wonderful messages for adults. You did a wonderful job simply communicating the sacrifice that Jesus made for us and clarifying items from scripture that still confuse people today like the creation of a new kingdom and freeing people from oppression. It was wonderful how you explained that it is a spiritual kingdom that Jesus rules and how God protects us from our enemies.
Here were some of the messages I took from your book. Since we haven't discussed your book, I don't know if what I took from it was what you intended but I wanted you to know how your words moved me:
- The reminder that all things are possible with God. Seeing how God worked in Gamamiel's life, it reminded my that while I don't always know how life is going to turn out, most of the time God has it turn out in ways that are better than we could of imagined. We just need to be patient and it will happen in God's time.
- Jesus' anxiety of his impending death and his conversation with Gamamiel at the Joppa wall. While none of my anxieties are close to what Jesus was anxious about, maybe it is the devil that brings on the anxiety to try to prevent you for doing God's will. I never thought of anxiety in that light before and this new idea gives me so much more freedom and away to get over the anxiety by telling the devil to go away. Additionally, it reminded me that I need to pray when I do feel anxious to find peace as well as listen for God's will.
- The reminder that the original Christians were Jews and how it is possible for Jewish people to not have believed in the Messiah. I have friends who are Jewish and at times I think to myself and wonder how it is possible that they don't believe Jesus is the son of God. Through your book, it is possible to see all the mixed messages and rumors that were spread that could have confused people.
This was a great book. I truly enjoyed it and I'm thrilled for you to see your dream come true.
