From time to time we have all wondered what other conversations Jesus must have had besides the stories we have read in New Testament. I know that I have often thought about all the other lives that Jesus must have touched other than the ones that I have read about. During his thirty silent years in Nazareth as he was growing up and as he was beginning his career, what contacts did Jesus make with people that he knew and loved. I am sure that Jesus had a powerful influence on the lives of people he touched over the years.
When I read The 13th Apostle, all the thoughts that I have had crystallized in the story of Gamaliel. In the style of In His Steps by Charles Sheldon, Paul Murphy tells the delightful story of one of the possible encounters with Jesus that could have happened. Of course we will never know. It is an unusual story that can be an inspiration to young people and older people alike. When reading it, I wondered if I would be able to recognize Jesus if I met Him. I hope you find this book a refreshing glimpse into the life of Jesus. I am sure that he motivated people to be part of the kingdom of God as He continues to fill our lives with His powerful presence today.
